Juliet and Saini's remedy

Juliet’s remedy: Garlic reduces cholesterol and is good for the heart. Make soup with one bulb of garlic, coriander, cumin, a few tomatoes, a little salt and pepper. Blend together and bring to boil and drink. Take twice a day for one to two months.

Saini’s remedy: For joint pain relief, strong teeth, good eyesight and to avoid colds. Chew one clove of garlic in the morning on an empty stomach. It must be taken every morning.

Origin: Central Asia, Mediterranean, Egypt and Greece. Cultivated in Asia, Africa, Europe, China and America.

History, myths and legends: Garlic was found in the tomb of Tutankhamen. Roman soldiers chewed garlic as a stimulant before going into battle and it was used in WW1 for preventing gangrene and sepsis. Garlic was a well-respected antidote during the black plague.

Remedies: Garlic contains natural antiseptic and antibiotic properties and is reputed to help lower blood pressure, cholesterol and triglycerides. Packed with antioxidants, a daily dose of garlic in your recipes could benefit your immune system.
