My Spice Box

Barbara’s remedy

I have grown up with home remedies as my father was a pharmacist. My parents used sage and other herbs for remedies, as did we, my sisters and myself . I still use it now and so does my daughter. As a remedy, it is made up like tea. Put a few chopped sage leaves into boiling water and infuse, then strain off and add a little honey for taste. It is good for headaches, stomach upsets and colds.

Origin: Native to southern Europe and the Mediterranean.
