Azra and Shami's remedy

Azra’s remedy: Black seed tea is a remedy for a number of ailments including colds, headaches, sore throat, flatulence and a weak nervous system. Add half a teaspoon of black seeds to a cup of boiled water and drink once a day.

Shami’s remedy: To help lower blood pressure and cholesterol, take one teaspoon of black seed oil with your meal once a day.

Origin: Native to south and southwest Asia and cultivated in north Africa, east Asia and Southern Europe.

History, myths and legends: The black seed can be dated back to ancient Egypt, where seeds were found at the site of Tutankhamun's tomb, and even further back into prehistory in Iron Age Jordan, and ancient Mesopotamia. Black seed is mentioned in the Bible and in Islam it is ‘a remedy for all diseases except death’.

Remedies: Many health conditions can benefit from the use of this herb, including digestive disorders, asthma, bronchitis, coughs, arthritis, headache and poor immune. Also useful for bites, stings and skin rashes.
