Chandra and Gulshan's remedy:

Chandra’s remedy: For a cough, dry roast one teaspoon of carom seeds and add them to half a glass of warm milk and drink.

Shami’s remedy: To help lower blood pressure and cholesterol, take one teaspoon of black seed oil with your meal once a day.

Origin: Native to south and southwest Asia and cultivated in north Africa, east Asia and Southern Europe.

History, myths and legends: The black seed can be dated back to ancient Egypt, where seeds were found at the site of Tutankhamun's tomb, and even further back into prehistory in Iron Age Jordan, and ancient Mesopotamia. Black seed is mentioned in the Bible and in Islam it is ‘a remedy for all diseases except death’.

Remedies: Many health conditions can benefit from the use of this herb, including digestive disorders, asthma, bronchitis, coughs, arthritis, headache and poor immune. Also useful for bites, stings and skin rashes.
