Chandan and Aruna's remedy
Chandan’s remedy: I use this remedy every morning, it protects you from catching colds. Take a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon, ginger and turmeric with half a teaspoon of honey and one teaspoon of lemon juice, added to a cup of hot water.
Aruna’s remedy: Cinnamon helps with diabetes as it helps to regulate blood sugar levels. Chew one inch of cinnamon stick every morning.
Origin:There are two varieties of cinnamon, C. cassia native to southern China, and C. zeylanicum native to Sri Lanka
History, myths and legends: Cinnamon has been in use since 2000 BC. Egyptians used it as a perfuming agent during the embalming process. Cinnamon was mentioned in the Old Testament as an ingredient in anointing oil. One of the first known spices, Romans believed cinnamon's
fragrance to be sacred and burned it at funerals.
Remedies: Cinnamon has significant benefits for people with type 2 diabetes. It helps their body respond to insulin, thus normalising blood sugar levels. Due to its various anti-inflammatory properties, cinnamon is very effective in safeguarding the heart and surrounding arteries from damage and infection.
